Went for a walk at lunch and finally got to see this. I love my community so much not because it is perfect, but because it can acknowledge its imperfections while working toward improvement.
New Castle County (Delaware) historical marker NCC-164 reading: THE BULAH FAMILY AND BROWN V. BOARD OF EDUCATION After several failed attempts to convince Delaware’s Department of Public Instruction to provide transportation or black children at the Hockessin Colored School #107C to local white schools, Fred and Sarah BULAH who lived near this site with their daughter Shirley enlisted the help of Louis Redding and Jack Greenberg. The case Belton v. Gebhart (1952) and Bulah v. Gebhart (1952) were filed in the Delaware Court of Chancery. Chancellor Collin’s J. Seitz ruled the plaintiffs were being denied equal protection of the law and ordered that the eleven children involved be admitted to the white Claymont and Hockessin schools. This case became part of Brown v. Board of Education.

More than 86,000 people live within a 5-mile radius of the refinery, over half of whom are people of color and 20% of whom are lower-income, according to EPA data. Due to concerns with diversity, equity and inclusion, earlier this year, the EPA canceled a $500,000 grant that would have allowed the nonprofit Clean Air Council to monitor air pollution in the area of the refinery.

College soccer season starts up in the fall and you never know who you’ll be watching. And while not all colleges are the same, UD games are free and I’ve been able to see a few players who went on to play pro ball. And the view isn’t bad either! #GoToGames

Been doing some work on the house and one of my projects is replacing the ugly boob lights in the basement. Any ideas?
A domed ceiling light cover with a brass piece to keep the dome from falling. Referred to as a “boob light” because it looks like a breast.
