Be calm when the unthinkable arrives. Modern tyranny is terror management. When the terrorist attack comes, remember that authoritarians exploit such events in order to consolidate power. The sudden disaster that requires the end of checks and balances, the dissolution of opposition parties, the suspension of freedom of expression, the right to a fair trial, and so on, is the oldest trick in the Hitlerian book. Do not fall for it.

Wow that's crazy. Overreach? Check. Internal Strife? Check-check. Stay safe out there, prepare canned food and gardens, arm yourself *for defense*, and prepare materials for yourself. The ride down is bumpy and regardless of the outcome these skills and tools are useful (and fun!).
The US is 248 years, 6 months, and 27 days old as of the time of this post. Historically, an empire's collapse occurs at around 250 years into it's life, some empires have survived longer, such as Rome or the Ottomans, but statistics suggest exceptional stability for those empires. The common factors in a collapse include overreach and internal strife.
