Pulling out of downtown Timmins was one of the blunders that tanked ridership on the thing, but the City & ONR wanted to revitalize the rail lands downtown. Look at how that turned out.

The Northlander did have some night runs in the past and ridership slipped. A sign of things to come.

You're right he did, including during the most recent Federal election. But this could push more drastic changes with a heavy-handed approach.

I'll say before 7:00pm.

I love that the government lost but this probably wasn't the right time to rock the boat. With the tariff deadline and Doug's polling he'll feel emboldened to make changes to the judicial appointment process. Very Trump-ish.

They're at a disadvantage of not owning as much rail as GO and with the Port of Montreal that's unlikely to change.

I'm not disputing that they should improve it but losing the Mount Royal Tunnel was a big blow. And mid-trip mode changes don't tend to help ridership no matter how easy you make it.

Exo's most popular line is gone and has been the case for 4-5 years. Not everyone flocked to the Vaudreuil or Saint-Jerome lines.

Blame the REM. It ate the ridership numbers from Deux-Montagnes making the rest of its rail network's numbers look anemic. Not to mention the whole Mount Royal Tunnel kerfuffle.

I feel like it's a great time to rewatch this documentary "Final Offer" on why the Canadian UAW split off from the US.
