Thames Water is collapsing. NO BAILOUTS for the shareholders and banks who caused this mess. Tell the government to take it into public ownership PERMANENTLY and protect the public interest. #WeOwnIt

With the focus on the assisted dying bill I personally think from my own families experience that more focus and money needs to be put into palliative care. Will be watching this documentary.
It’s been an honour to make this programme.

Thanks for everyone who spoke to us.

Don't miss @danielhewittitv.bsky.social's timely investigation into the dire underfunding of palliative care - tomorrow night, ITV, 8.30pm.

70% of UK hospices are in deficit.

The work they do is so precious - yet they’re cutting jobs, beds and home care.

Do we care?

Absolutely 💯 behind more support and funding for NHS palliative care. Many won’t think about it until you need access to it. Then ensure a loved one can receive it shouldn’t be hard fought
In the week that MPs vote on assisted dying, please - please - can we all agree & act on the fact that the time to end the woeful underfunding of NHS palliative care is now?

If we truly cared about dying people, we wouldn’t neglect their final days.

Mixed thoughts but agree @doctoroxford.bsky.social - having experienced excellent palliative care provided to my late father in law, it was only after enduring months of unimaginable pain on an acute trauma ward with terminal cancer. Dying with dignity and no suffering is something we all wish for.
Wherever you stand on assisted dying, I’d urge you to read this superb, thoughtful, evidence-based piece from @iandunt.bsky.social.

A couple of points to add, from my perspective as an atheist palliative care doctor who opposes legal change at this time 🧵 open.substack.com/pub/iandunt/...

How the foundation of Bluesky was built is so crucial for the future of social — so much so that @rmac.bsky.social & I wrote a whole chapter about it in our book. From day 1, @jay.bsky.team was insistent on independence, a decision that was extraordinarily prescient. (1/2)

I'm on my way to #FIS24 & Healthcare Infection Society conference today. Ahead of it I wanted to take some time to write something which I hope will be helpful to those of us who, despite enjoying them, also find conference/event attendance rather stressful
