The Great Lakes Commission is a binational government agency established in 1955 to protect the Great Lakes and the economies and ecosystems they support.

Finally, the GLC passed resolutions calling for water reuse and coordinated resource management in the development of AI/computing infrastructure, as well as prevention of plastic pollution and harmonization of stormwater management.

The GLC also elected new leadership: Chair Timothy Bruno, #GreatLakes coordinator at the PA Dept of Environmental Protection and Vice Chair James Jennings, head of @ilepa.bsky.social.

The GLC would like to extend gratitude to our immediate past chair Mary Mertz of the Ohio DNR for her leadership.

We also welcomed author Peter Annin and students from Duluth Public Schools and ended the day with a celebration of the #GreatLakes Commission's 70th anniversary - and a big cake!
