S/F ratio is very simple to use and at a surprisingly high level predicts when a patient with sickle cell is likely to go to the ICU due to ACS.

In sickle cell we have moved more towards calling it “transformative therapy” which I think patients and their families respond really well to.

Most importantly no provider would ignore pain.

I think we would be able to help patients get individualized care that for their lifestyle - with some taking the risks of gene therapy for a cure and others having a full range of oral and IV therapies to manage symptoms.

I think if that had happened we would be able to better prognosticate many different complications.
