"At this point, China alone already has 50 percent more production capacity for PV panels than is thought to be necessary to hit an “optimized” Net Zero trajectory for CO2 emissions."

The day after Trump suggested the US would resume explosive nuclear testing "immediately," the US was the only nation to vote against a UN statement affirming the importance of the treaty that prevents it.

This from two men who engineered the "financial innovations" that crashed the global economy in 2008. Not linking to their op-ed. The fewer people who read it the better.

Many thanks to Lyle Goldstein and everyone at the Watson Institute's China Initiative for the invite to participate in the most thought-provoking, well-organized China-related event I have attended in quite a long time.

I understand they’ve come and gone in waves since then. The tree we were sitting under was planted by Ladybird Johnson in 1965.

"Accepting there are no quick-fixes can reduce urgency-driven pressure and allow us to focus on systemic solutions that address root causes over time instead of chasing immediate results. Patience and persistence are key tools in this fight against authoritarianism."

Taken on the corner of 2nd NE and Mass Ave walking back to Union Station from a meeting on Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons at the Friends Committee on National Legislation. A quintessentially American experience. The man and Exxon's celebration are not aberrations, nor was my meeting.

The second "A" is MAGA is the most important. When people long for something better they imagine existed in the past, it can distort their present and impoverish their future. The 2nd coming of DT seems to be a moment of decline; an expression of a hopeless and decaying culture.

It is important to remember that 1st #Korea NA vote on impeachment was a disappointment, but not a defeat. Yoon's own party wants him out ASAP, but prefers he not be impeached. A resignation may be pending. And if not, a second and successful vote on impeachment may follow.

Our host here in Seoul, and co-organizer of our East Asia Quadrilateral Dialogue (Japan, Korea, China, US - the inclusive Quad - fighting his way into the National Assembly to do his constitutional duty and vote on rescinding Yoon's Marshall law decree. Tonight he will vote on a proposal to impeach.

In Seoul, holding our East Asian Quadrilateral Dialogue. We met yesterday in the National Assembly office building. Moving to an alternate location today. Feeling inspired by the courage of the Korean people, and their elected representatives, who defended their democracy in a critical moment.
