There’s talk about the partial collapse of the Torre dei Conti in Rome being caused by the Metropolitana subway line.
In fact it seems to be our reliable old friend, geology. The torre is sitting on a fault line.

This time in the Archaeological Museum of Athens was different. I found myself mesmerised by the gestures of love and farewell on the funerary stelae, the sadness of grieving families.

I sometimes think the current obsession with multiple spices and flavours is meant to hide the deficiencies in the raw materials.

There can be nothing better than a plain dish like this, where the clams sing and the broth is just lemony and herby, begging for a piece of good bread to mop it up.

This is a white wine reduction of prawn shells and chili in a fruity olive oil, about 200ml.
Next stop: using this to make a light emulsion with some added lemon zest, for prawn and basil ravioli.
