Sarah Palin, I think we finally found your Death Panels. But this time the people leading them, Musk and his minions, RFK, Jr., Trump himself, and others are making decisions about peoples’ lives and livelihoods, truly don’t give a shit what happens to them. Even rejoice in their misery.

Could have better communicated why this is notable: This is a special election in a district that went +18% for Trump in 2024, and includes Tarrant County - a belwether and the state's 4th-largest county, where Republicans have openly tried to suppress Democratic votes and power.
In Texas 9th SD, Democrat Taylor Rehmet is leading three candidates-including Leigh Wambsganss, a well-known Christian nationalist activist who was supported by Trump, Texas GOP leaders and far-right donor Tim Dunn. The district includes Tarrant County, a +5% Trump county + bellwether for the state.

“It's fair to say that 80 percent of the world's problems involve old men hanging on who are afraid of death and insignificance, and they won't let go," said Obama. "They build pyramids, and they put their names on everything and they get very anxious about it."
Of course he lied. There would really be no place to put his humongous vanity project without taking out the East wing.
Breaking News: President Trump is having the White House’s entire East Wing demolished to make way for his $200 million ballroom. The project is far more extensive than he initially let on.

Also someone needs to explain to, not just Rappoport (who is an idiot), but a lot of other people too, that the premise of democratic socialism is not that everyone is poor but that everyone can have nice things and afford an occasional date night out

I don’t talk about this publicly, but hegseth drives me out of my silence.

I attended West Point from 1998-2000. I left, along with about 5 other young women, as a direct result of the military’s then-shameful (non) policies addressing sex harassment and assault.

And when states decide to prosecute pregnant women for taking Tylenol?
Over a two-year period, prosecutors across 16 states charged more than 400 people with pregnancy-related crimes, with most of the charges originating in states with near or total abortion bans, according to a new report released Tuesday.
New study finds more than 400 pregnancy-related prosecutions after Roe's fall
Most of the cases involved allegations of substance use during pregnancy, a nonprofit legal group found.

Gonna be fun when Hegseth and RFK, Jr to team up to require all Americans to pass hard PT, height, and weight standards daily. Ozempic not allowed.
Hegseth: "It all starts with physical fitness and appearance. If the secretary of war can do regular hard PT, so can every member of our joint force. Frankly, it's tiring to look out at combat formations and see fat troops. Likewise, it's completely unacceptable to see fat generals and admirals."

BREAKING: BlueSky is blocking access to Mississippi.

This is the No. 1 platform for @mississippifreepress.org.

We ditched X for BlueSky early this year.

And now, at 3 pm on a Friday, poof.

I don't know what we'll do next.

Keep up with us using our newsletter at mfp.ms/subscribe.
bsky.app Bluesky @bsky.app · Aug 22
Unfortunately, Bluesky is unavailable in Mississippi right now, due to a new state law that requires age verification for all users.

While intended for child safety, we think this law poses broader challenges & creates significant barriers that limit free speech & harm smaller platforms like ours.

I would like to amplify this post by 1000x because Reuters f'd up this story to start with -- by falsely reporting that Costco would no longer carry mifepristone, when it never did -- and other news outlets ran with it and far-right legal groups are taking credit for something that didn't happen.
This is not a massive decision or any kind of change. Costco has never carried mifepristone in its pharmacies. An anti-abortion group is taking credit for something that didn't happen, possibly to generate disingenuous left-wing ire against one of the few corporations that hasn't gone MAGA.

So what will MAGA do if they never get an Epstein list? They’re maniacally counting on saving children from a Dem sex trafficking ring. They want that reward. I’m not convinced they’ll ever give up, so where do they go next?
