Such a moving moment when Chuck Schumer asked Corey if he knew he's passed the 25 hour mark. Thank you HCR for telling the whole story as always.

📄 NEW: "To Survive This, We Must Break the Fourth Wall" With a potential government shutdown looming, old frames of left vs. right political conflict are breaking down. We're dealing with something much bigger — and it's time we talk about it frankly.

...Three horsemen of the MAGA-tech-bro apocalypse ...think their top floor apartment doesn't rest on all the floors underneath ... they're immune to the impact ...their power is not merely part of larger systems ... think they have defeated cause and effect. bit.ly/3XfLQOO
No One Knows How This Will End (But I Do Not Think It Will End Well for Them)
I can sum up the Trump/Musk/Vance theory of power in five words: "We have power; you don't." Alternative version in six words: "we can do anything we want." They seem to believe that nothing is really...

I wish it was laughable.
We as a country will save nothing. Federal employee salaries make up just 4% of the budget—roughly $271 billion. So even if every federal worker were fired, that’s the maximum you’d save. Meanwhile, the U.S. House GOP has released a budget that raises the debt limit by $4 trillion.

I really like this thing that Ezra Klein quoted from Loren DeJonge Schulman, a former Office of Management and Budget official, on his latest podcast, "The Breaking of The Constitutional Order"

The point of bringing in Hegseth, Gaetz and Gabbard is to burn it all to the ground. Senate: You must recognize this and stop it.

I'd like to remind the rest of the world
that the majority of US voters
have voted against Trump
for 3 elections in a row.
Trump has fallen below 50% of the popular vote.

With 152.7M votes counted so far, he leads Harris 49.99%-48.22%.

This was not a landslide or a blowout by any means.

159+M total ballots in 2020.

There's nothing for me to add here.
This is Laurie Anderson, inspired by the poem "Waiting for the Barbarians" by the poet C. P. Cavafy, written in 1898.

Art. Encapsulating truth inside what's happening. Art doesn't stop in times of adversity. It carries us.

My plea to reporters is to not call it the Department of Government Efficiency. It is not a Department. It is almost certainly going to a Federal Advisory Committee, and it is very important that reporters accurately convey that Vivek and Elon are working on an advisory committee.

Admittedly I’m no expert in gender politics and I’m just a guy but I’m pretty sure that the election to the presidency of a man found by a federal jury to have forcibly penetrated a woman’s vagina with his hands in a department store dressing room isn’t a great thing for women.
