Hello 👋 after some time off social media, I thought why not check it out again 😀

For all who don't know me & my work: I am a psychometrician focussing on the measurement of cognitive processes with cognitive (mathematical/formal) models & I tend to think way to hard about how to best analyze data 😇

Andy Conway and I are honored to serve as inaugural co-Editors of this new Psychonomics journal, focused on the rigorous study of individual differences in cognition. Please spread the word to potentially interested colleagues; we hope that you will send us your best relevant work!
PS is excited to announce the launch of "Individual Differences in Cognition” (IDIC), an open-access journal on research in cognitive psychology, science, and neuroscience. Co-Editors-in-Chief are Andrew R.A. Conway & Michael J. Kane. Manuscripts accepted this spring. More information coming soon!

Good news for all those of us who plan to grow old: Some forms of learning do not decline in old age. Our new paper in Psychology and Aging shows equivalent learning rates in older and younger adults in chunk learning, tested through the Hebb repetition effect.
In our new paper in Psychology and Aging,
@koberauer.bsky.social, @leabartsch.bsky.social, and I investigated age differences in the Hebb repetition effect, and show that chunk formation is largely preserved in old age. Check it out here:

Memory researchers have known this: If we leave more free time between one study item and the next, memory is better. This is true for WM and LTM - but is it so for the same reason? Probably not. If you want to know more, have a look at our new paper in JEP:General: psycnet.apa.org/record/2026-...

Simonsohn has now posted a blog response to our recent paper about the poor statistical properties of the P curve. @clintin.bsky.social and I are finishing up a less-technical paper that will serve as a response. But I wanted to address a meta-issue *around* this that may clarify some things. 1/x
