Pham, I haven’t gotten to yet. Cohen, FB looks unusable, and I doubt the SL will generate whiffs like it did in AAA. Would be surprised if he’s drafted (aka I don’t know anything)

McNeill was above average, by FRV, at 2B last year, and had been over last three years as well. I like Donovan more too, but he’ll cost a lot more.

Lodolo: 5M
Kelly: 18M, 2/36 (MLBTR)
McNeill: 12.5M
Sanchez: 7M

Trade cost:
Lodolo: Level+Breshnahan
McNeill: 40FV
Sanchez: 40FV

42M spend. Puts them about 15M under the CBT. Only trade away one major prospect (I would be ok with adding more to Lodolo deal). Thats around 8 WAR, Giants at 84-86 wins

Add Jeff McNeill at 2B, scoop up my guy Jesus Sanchez from Houston for RF. And you have upgraded the team at all core positions without hefty contractual obligations.

You can plug in Davidson where Level is, if a team prefers one over the other. I think they’re similar in value.

I’m guessing he’ll spend the offseason working on his range to this right. I don’t think there is any question about his ability to pick the ball or throw. Range can be improved.

Ryan is a tier above Lodolo. Probably can get 7 WAR out of him, but price will be steep. Level+Kilen+Bresnahan at the minimum I think. deGrom works, but won’t leave much payroll space for any other major moves in FA (unless Texas eats, also NTC). Baz/Ras are solid too. Not into Gore or Cabrera

Probably need to include non-player payroll in cost per win calc, that’s a reason why they get those better returns.

Steamer has the Giants at around the 20-25th best team in baseball for 2026, around 77-78 wins. If they spend a max of 30-35M this offseason, that could add 3-4 wins. Getting you to 80-82 wins. So need to rely on variance, Vitello, to get to 85-86 wins and a WC3. Same strategy as 2019-25.

He very well could be great offensively as well. This was in response to the idea that Hernandez is all around a better prospect than Gonzalez. The only area of debate between them is offense. Defense, speed, athleticism are not worth comparing as JG is on a different stratosphere.
