And honestly, it's never too far either. Sometimes I come up with stuff for games and go "Oh, these thoughts are different in shape and destination, but not in spirit."

Eh, I get it, it's not like the comics go away & I understand wanting to do your thing if you respect the original enough to not think you'd do better with a 1:1
But like, just to mention an example: I can't live with a Hellboy/Liz love story after seeing who they're for each other in the comics.

Watched it yesterday, I think it's quite the fine movie, and that everyone's doing a terrific job.
...I also went "Ah, this isn't the book's story, I see" and had to go through a moment or three of acceptance on the matter, lmao.

I checked those amazing comics because of those movies, but in hindsight I can't help but agree.
Love the man's, and the Hellboy cast. But despite Prince Nuada being awesome the second movie's still "meh", and I can't go back to those characters after meeting the much different comic counterparts.
