Ed's side doesn't even fucking hurt anymore. Stede's warm hand cured him, some kind of magic touch or something, because the guy's kneeling in front of Ed on a cafe patio, hand up Ed's shirt, in front of Lucius the barista and twenty tourists in matching shirts from some New Hampshire birding club, and the only thing Ed can think is that Stede's eyes are the most beautiful green-gold he's ever seen. Okay, not the only thing, because Stede's kneeling in front of him and Ed's legs are spread and— Yep. Okay. They're on the very public patio of a very public cafe. Ed's dicks are not getting themselves all worked up. But. Stede has a boat. Stede wants Ed to come on his boat? After Ed ate the last boat he was on? Granted, Ed doesn't remember it-and also granted, Stede doesn't know Ed was the one who ate that one-but still. Fucking lunatic, heading out to sea when he knows there's a killer shark in the waters "Didn't you just have kind of a bad experience on a boat?" he tries carefully.

A lil #wipwednesday shark!!!
When Ed wakes, it's to a sharp pain in his gut and a dull one in his head. He's on a sandbar, sun glaring down at him, and there's sand in his beard and his hair and he's wearing nothing but a slightly shredded pair of boxers. Par for the course on a nearly-full moon. He sits up with a groan, shoving his hair out of his face and trying to shake out some of the kelp that's wrapped itself around him. The sunlight's nice on his skin now that it's not shining right in his eyes, and he takes a moment to try and remember anything about the night before. That's the thing about his transformations: he can transform any time into the half-shark form he usually swims in, and he's fully aware and conscious for that, doesn't lose his memory or his self-control. The nights around the full moon, though? When he turns full-shark under the dappled moonlight on the water? Yeah. He goes fully feral. No memory of anything that happened beyond the faintest impressions, and no evidence other than the aches through his bones. He stretches a little, twists one way, then — "Ahh!" he yelps. Something fucking hurts. He blinks to clear the dried salt from his eyes and looks blearily down at himself, running a careful hand down his torso, and yeah. He's been fucking gut-stabbed.

This is a trap, right? Or a joke? Probably a joke. Guys like that don't smile at guys like Ed. 'Specially not this particular guy like that, who looks like he pisses champagne and shits caviar. Ed knows what he looks like to guys like that, and if he hadn't known when he woke up this morning, he sure as shit knows now every other shop on this street has told him-- Shit shit shit the guy is coming out from behind the counter what the fuck shit he's got silver shoes on? None of the other fancy dickheads had silver shoes. This guy is already wearing a full yellow suit like a posh sexy banana and now he's got silver shoes on too? What the fuck is Ed meant to do with that? Posh sexy banana silver-shoes fancy caviar-shitting guy-like-that opens the door and, if anything, his smile gets even bigger, like maybe if you dress like that none of the other rules apply either, and you can just smile at whoever the fuck you want whenever the fuck you want and all the other fancy shop guys can go fuck themselves. Yeah. Like that. That's how this guy smiles at him. "Good afternoon, sir," the posh sexy banana says, and no way, not only is he dressed like that wearing shoes like that and a smile like that, but he's a kiwi, too? What the hell? First good luck Ed's had all day. Not that Ed's biased, but probably explains how the guy's so good looking. Nothing like the homeland for its sexy as fuck exports, of which Ed and the posh sexy banana are two primo examples. Kind of different, though. Ed's hot like a quick fuck in a dive bar hot and this guy is handsome like two dudes getting married at a luxury hotel handsome, but still a credit to good old Aotearoa.
