Hi all, I'm hiring a junior specialist/research technician for my lab at UCSC. An ideal applicant would be an undergraduate who would like more research experience before applying for grad school but all are welcome to apply 🧪

$95 b return on a $37 b investment. Federally funded research is a good return - even without, you know, remarkably effective new treatments for cancer, curing genetic disorders, making progress and improving the lives of those with neurodegenerative disease, etc. www.forbes.com/sites/michae...

Anyone? 👇
A friend of mine has a personal contact with Alabama representatives and will send a personal message regarding #NIH #indirect funding cuts. She is looking for personal stories of the effects of science funding cuts on individual people, particularly if they are in Alabama! Share, I'll pass them.

Attempt no. 1 at chocolate geniose for a buche de Noel (for daughter’s French class): delicious but very broken upon rolling. Stay tuned for attempt no. 2. #bakingsky #howdowetagthingshere

It’s genuinely shocking if you’re remotely familiar with the basic facts of trans care and youth medicine.

It is *profoundly* difficult to access gender-affirming care as a minor and the Times has printed more than a dozen articles implying that it is too easy.
in hindsight the NYT anti-trans crusade is one of the most despicable things that any big time journalism outfit in this country has ever done. a perfect and clearly intentional layup for the fascists on the Supreme Court

Slight wicked spoilers: my 12 yo and I both got excited at the KC and IM cameos. After the movie, she said she was excited to see Elsa and thought that’s what I was excited about too 😳
