Documenting my book binding progress.

Unusual material choice for this book. I was given a wallpaper sample. It's a shame that the design is printed against the paper grain direction, the book won't stay closed.

My first attempt at using a press and wood chisel for trimming. Happy with the results.

I moved away from York a year ago, and your photo made me home sick, in a good way. Lots of lovely memories I'm revisiting. Cheers

I'd love to have someone who isn't my mum give these a download. Let me know what you think

I gave it a shot, turned out alright. My daughter is looking forward to making a flip book animation with it

I think if I tried to replicate this, my thick ass awl would obliterate the book. Is there a tutorial you could point me to on how this was made? It looks really fun

Fed through book cloth, not paper, sorry

If I was to do it again, I'd make sure to print on a3, so I can wrap my a5 book all the way around two sheets and the edge of the book. For this attempt there wasn't enough cloth for the back, so I ended up using some of my end paper to cover the rest.

No real tutorial, I just fed through an a4 sheet of paper into the inkjet, and it took the cloth just fine. One thing you need to consider is that the ink isn't waterproof, so you might want to cover the book with a clear spray finish just in case.

That's really well done. I need to experiment more with multiple threads.

Every time I have made a coptic bind the cover has been too loose. It's a shame, like your book, I think they can come out really pretty
