What sort of parallel universe are we living in in which extremely powerful people are worried about a wholly transparent ploy? If the Trump administration tries to scapegoat an innocent man, how about we just fucking ignore what they say and go after the real perpetrator? What's this vacillation?
Breaking news: Government officials said they are increasingly concerned that the Trump administration intends to scapegoat the military officer who directed U.S. forces to kill survivors of a targeted strike on suspected drug smugglers in Latin America.
Hegseth, with White House help, tries to distance himself from boat strike fallout
As Congress vows accountability, the Trump administration emphasized it was a top military commander — not the defense secretary — who directed the engagement.

🔥 BREAKING: A spokesperson for Kids Can Press, the publisher of the Franklin the Turtle books, messaged me today about Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth using the likeness and image from the books to make light of killings in the Caribbean in his post yesterday on X.

@markhertling.bsky.social: “When you're talking about striking against someone who's wounded and clinging to debris…Deliberately targeting such a person isn't a tactical decision, it's a war crime by the Geneva Convention, the laws of land warfare, and the U.N. Charter.”

The way I see it:

Trump gave the order to, Pete Hegseth gave the order to, Admiral Bradley gave the order to, Navy Seal Team.

All are Guilty for following illegal orders. Remember: We did not just blame Hitler, we blamed the soldiers following orders.

On committing war crimes "I was just following orders" will not save them. Remember the Nuremberg trials? But they can't seem to get their stories straight on who gave the order. Trump? Hegseth? Some rando officer? The international community is bearing down on Trump for this.

An unserious child depicting murder and a war crime as a cartoon. If the pedophile president's history of how he handles these things is any indication, Trump's going to claim he barely knows Hegseth and that Pete was once his coffee boy who he had to fire for drinking too much while on the job.

Trump just commuted the 7-year sentence of David Gentile, a private equity leader who helped defraud thousands of people out of some $1.6 billion, almost as soon as his prison stint began.

"I lost my whole life savings," one person wrote, adding, "I am living from check to check."

In Nuremberg in 1945, the Americans established the principle that "just following orders" is no excuse for crime. The six members of Congress are right to remind us of that today
The Duty to Disobey Unlawful Orders Was America’s Idea
“Stauffenberg pointed the way: if your obedience requires you to do criminal, unhuman things, you are no longer bound by your oath. A soldier’s final benchmark must always, in the last instance, be his conscience, not his orders.” That’s what Jan Techau, a friend of mine with a special vantage on this matter (more about Stauffenberg in a minute), told me when I asked him what he thought about a controversy now raging in the United States.

For #MaryTrump & #psychologists #psychiatrists on here:

His insults seem to be getting more & more puerile. Is it possible that his mind is regurgitating cruel statements his father or mother made to him as an incorrigible kid? Especially “piggy” - there was something primal about it.
Real men don’t punch down, and they especially don’t punch down at women.

This mashup of Trump’s disgusting attacks on female reporters — the same reporters who consistently show the most courage. And it’s past time for the other reporters in the room to have their backs!

It’s never ok to use the R slur.

It’s never ok to discriminate against and berate disabled people.

It’s not an acceptable term to describe anyone, for any reason.

He’s emboldening his base.

They’re going to use it more often.

Please speak out. Help protect disabled lives.

Disabled people were one of the first groups targeted by the Nazis.

They coined the term “useless eaters”.

They tested the gas chambers on us.

They knew most people wouldn’t fight to save our lives.

That’s why the President using the R slur is so dangerous.

We’re not expendable

So...we're killing so called drug traffickers coming from Venezuela because we're anti-drug traffickers, but pardoning a convicted Honduran drug trafficker who was sentenced to 45 years in prison? How much did he pay the orange pedo for his pardon?

Senator Kelly is correct.

Plus a Public Service Announcement:

KEY section of Department of Defense's Law of War Manual is 18.3.2.1.

The VERY rule on the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders gives as its paradigmatic example of what is "clearly illegal:
"orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

Someone needs to say it. Trump 2028 isn’t happening.

We know the presidency ages you, and we’re witnessing his rapid decline. His approval is buried in the 30s, and his stamina is gone. He won’t be able to vigorously campaign.

He can pretend 2028 is inevitable, but everyone can see the truth.

Here are US military lawyers stating clearly that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's "kill everybody" orders are either (1) war crimes or (2) murder.

Either way, expect prosecutions in the future.
