Tree hugger. Animal lover. A bit of writing. A bit of photography. A bit of drawing. Gardening in the desert is very challenging, but I do it anyway.

I live in southern Nevada and growing veggies can be challenging. The sun can be brutal out here. I decided not try something different this year. I put my raised beds where they will get some shade this summer.
I have two large desert willows that hopefully will help.

Hi! I'm Anika. I am 3 months old.
I helped my mom dig holes and plant flowers.

I get up with the sun, mostly. Winter is a bit different, my cats insist I am out of bed by 5-530 just as it is beginning to get light. I usually run out, feed my horse around 4-430, then jump back into bed and get warm. Once in a while though, I have to run back in for my phone/camera.

Had a nice drive over to Shoshone, CA for lottery tickets. And for a change, the air was pretty damn clean. The winter colors of the desert can be something. The fault line in the one pic must be about 6-8 feet offset. Thought that was pretty cool.

3 wild horses showed up at my place. I do not feed them, but my own horse tosses hay everywhere, so they get to nibble on what is tossed out the fence.
I am hoping to see the foal this mare will have in a couple of months.

Rushkoff has written a very good book on these types. I recommend it.

Took a few pics of mammtus clouds at my place this morning. Then played with them in Picasso Oil Brush.

I buy a bag-o-mixed flower seeds, throw them out in my yard, and wait to see what happens. This is one the flowers and I do not know the names of most of the ones that manage to live in a very hot climate.

There is no outside force, Satan, that temps us to evil. It is all from within. Confronting it. Acknowledging it. Understanding it. Then we can begin to rid ourselves of it.

I had two early morning visitors. These two have been up in this area for a few days, but this is the first time in my yard. I have to keep my hay stack fenced in. If you look close you can see my strawberry roan mustang mare inside the fence.

These cloud bursts are so neat to watch. I get to see them roll in from the north and sweep across the mountains.

I have had a catio for a lot of years. Outside of the fact I like my kitties to not get eaten by coyotes, I also don't like them killing everything in sight. Finally got the old rickety catio replaced with this, once upon a time chicken pen.

Fun with Procreate!
I take my photos and run them through BeCasso. Then I put them in Procreate and just have fun.
