Hmm I’m not sure I have a great answer. More in person stuff is great, but it can’t just be, here’s one person talking and a slice of pizza. I think it needs to have a stronger focus on building community. Probably not the person to provide that solution, but feels like something’s missing there.

In this case if it just said “a close up of Steve Carell’s face in a suit saying ‘it’s happening’”, most people would imagine a different gif and not the one from the Big Short.
(meanwhile the alt for that gif is dog shit: “a man in a suit and tie is standing next to a woman in a green shirt .”)

a man in a suit and tie is standing next to a woman in a green shirt .
Alt: Steve Carell as Michael Scott from The Office hurrying out of his office saying “Oh, my god! Okay, it’s happening” while the rest of the employees are scurrying by him.

I’m also surprised, though probably shouldn’t be, that when something comes from a specific form of media (tv, movie, etc), it never mentions the character, actor, show, etc.
At the very least you’d think it would reference Steve Carell or the text saying “It’s Happening”

Ha that’s where my head went too!
Luckily today when Santa checks the LLM list twice, asking if it’s sure so and so has been naughty, you know it’s going to reply with “You’re absolutely right. My mistake, they belong on the nice list”

Likewise, and probably deserves deeper thought, but oven been thinking about how we encourage younger developers and how it has more to do with shaping their worldviews than syntax of any language.

Rhea Seehorn plus Vince Gilligan returning to his weird ass sci-fi roots is a winning combination for me. And the first episode already has me hooked!

My favorite quote from Chris in this episode:
“I believe in the power of programmers. I believe in the human potential of people that want to create things. And that’s fundamentally why I love software is that you can create anything that you can imagine.”

But now the training doesn’t stop. Still have my eyes on a full marathon 2 years from now when I’m 40. Next up is a speed training block, maybe some one off 5ks, and then targeting a 10 miler in the spring! Let’s go!!!

And yeah, I was stunned to see the final time. It’s not my fastest 10k ever, but easily the fastest I’ve done in the last decade! Super proud of myself for the training and effort to get there.

5k in to the race today, I had finished the bridge and my heart rate was already 175+, I knew it would be a struggle to the finish. But surprisingly, I held my pace and picked people off down the home stretch.
