I spent Sunday documenting and sampling Roman quarries on the Veli Brijun island in Brijuni National Park just west of Pula, Croatia. It was lovely spending a day outside. It's also lovely getting back to archaeology.

Thank you so much! I tried vinegar but it altered the surface colour of the pieces. You can see the original colour on the lower right. Will try HCl next.

I've been doing an analysis on Late Neolithic assemblage from northern Croatia, but almost all of the lithic pieces are covered with hard, impossible-to-remove amorphous lumps. Does anyone have similar experiences? How can I remove it without damaging the pieces?

I may be late for this week's #FossilFriday, but enjoy a photo of a nice tube-shaped rudist fossil from Istria, Croatia. Rudists were sedentary bivalves and major reef-building organisms during the Cretaceous.

Aside from archaeology, crocheting is also one of my favourite hobbies (I say archaeology is my hobby since I have to do it in my spare time - for now!). These two little gnomes were a gift for neighbours and family.
