GenX artist/dad: creating high art, low art and everything in between. Transcribing the times we’re living in with visual satire. Trying to trust and enjoy the creative process.

I’m sharing my 4 yr old daughter’s artwork here on my birthday (Groundhogs day!) Putting love out into the universe. We definitely need it right now.
She’s an amazing little artist…abstract expressionist for the moment. Loves drawing and painting. I’m the luckiest dad on the planet. ❤️☀️

Another landscape but this one was from memory (a real place I painted often) but was trying to recapture the cerulean blue in the evening sky after the sun went down. One of those moments that go by too fast. I believe this was about 20x24 inches #oilpainting #art #contemporaryart

This one was from real life. A real place I used to paint long ago. Green Field. Oil on canvas. 12x24 in. #oilpainting #contemporaryart #landscapepainting

A much older piece where I used thick gesso and a pallet knife to create a textured surface and then painted watercolor and a little acrylic on top. A bit bleak but I’ve always liked it. #traditionalart #art #painting #landscapepainting #contemporaryart

I started this painting several months ago because I wanted to make something that spoke to the times we’re living in, and I wanted to express something that I have firsthand knowledge of, and that of course is evangelical Christianity. This country has some dark days ahead of it. #oilpainting

Continuing with older landscapes. Oil on linen. This was an actual place down south that I used to paint. Had access to a farm. Years ago. #oilpainting #traditionalart #landscapepainting #artist

I don’t get into the city as often as I’d like so this weekend I visited the MOMA and it didn’t disappoint. Came away with a lot of inspiration for my painting projects 🤘🔥❤️ #moma #artmuseums #nyc #fineart #painting

Posting some older oil paintings. I used to strictly paint landscapes and I focused on the light. These were long ago but some of my best back then. #fineart #oilpainting #landscapepainting #art

My first post here on Bluesky. Hard to stomach the other platforms tbh.
I’m an artist/dad making work about the times we’re living in.
Took a long hiatus from painting but now I’m back.🔥 An excerpt from a painting I’m currently working on.
