The Algonquin Round Table were drunks and Communists but it’s important that we in the podcast community honor them as the first podcasters. Intermittently funny, jobs that let them dick around all afternoon, no audience to speak of. 🫡

Trump Is Turning the White House Into a 'Branded Estate'
The president’s teardown of the East Wing is a jarring visual reminder of his no-holds-barred commitment to reshape the nation in his own image.

I want to make it perfectly clear I've got nothing against TRON: ARES. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

But what I want most is for the younger generations to love going to the movies, which means we need more movies for them. Not every movie needs to be for 50 year old white guys.

The ultimate “yes” girl strikes again.

Can’t wait for her bit on how her fellow comediennes wouldn’t come and that she’s more like “one of the guys”.
I didn’t even have to see the poster to know Whitney Cummings was at the Riyadh “comedy” festival

#TXLEGE: 11 key laws go into effect today.

Instead of preparing Texans for real crises, lawmakers prioritized bills that go against our Texas values.

Here's a breakdown of some of the bills that have passed. 🧵

Could you do me a solid and please share?

“I’ve had enough…I’m refusing to back down.”

Texas state Rep. Nicole Collier speaks to MSNBC from the Texas State Capitol. She is stuck there after the Texas GOP required police surveillance as condition for release. She is refusing to sign a waiver for the law enforcement escort.

ICYMI: Amazon still doing Amazon things

The company is not only reintroducing new versions of old features that allow police to access footage from Ring users

Amazon is introducing a new Ring feature that will allow police to request *livestream* access to our home security devices.

Ring founder Jamie Siminoff is back at the helm of the surveillance doorbell company, and with him is the surveillance-first-privacy-last approach that made Ring one of the most maligned tech devices....

“This isn’t a coincidence. It’s the result of federal policy choices — most immediately, sweeping job cuts across public-sector agencies where Black women have long held the strongest foothold in middle-class employment.”
300,000 Black women have left the labor force in 3 months. It’s not a coincidence.
For decades, the public sector has been a lifeline for Black women shut out of economic opportunity. It’s no surprise that Trump's federal downsizing targeted them first, explains gender economist Kat...

I used to idolize Thomas. It’s really embarrassing to see how deep he’s buried his legacy with this incessant bullshitting.
Thread. Cripes I can't stand Roy Thomas.
In the new ALTER EGO, Roy Thomas decides to settle the "who created Wolverine" question, by -- repeating his claims, publishing it in his own magazine, and claiming that's the end of the story. Including making claims about what Len Wein would think and say, were he alive to tell everyone that...

The story of the Epstein saga is not one of a secret elite pedophile conspiracy, it's that rich people were taking advantage of vulnerable teenage girls, it wasn't a secret, and *absolutely nobody cared*. Which tends to be the story with all these cases---the powers that be simply aren't interested.
I don’t think the U.S upper class are pedophile conspirators in the “toddlers in a basement” way: I think some powerful men get a conspiratorial thrill from the idea of fucking seventeen year olds who appear “consenting” but are actually being supplied to them at a party.

I have a piece up @msnbc.com today, on the logistical challenges of hiring 10,000 ICE agents.

The text is “it’ll be hard to do.”

The subtext isn’t “so don’t worry,” but rather “this means there are still ways to resist and undermine the effort.”
Opinion | Trump‘s megabill gives billions to ICE — but hiring 10,000 new agents won't be easy
The agency has historically struggled to fill open positions — and more money won't necessarily solve the problem.
