All that said, I may possibly host a pop-up #genchat now & then (which I’d announce in advance) & I encourage you to to use the hashtag when sharing relevant #genealogy info as you’ve been doing for years.

To Mastodon #genchat , I say I’m sorry that isn’t the case, and sadly I’ve found that bridging to & from Bluesky is spotty at best. I’ve so appreciated your faithful attendance and participation these past 3 years!

And that’s okay! Other genealogy chats have popped up over the years, and there are several vibrant chats now on Bluesky (#GenHour, #AncestryHour and others). #genchat

Two, despite a resurgence of interest at the beginning of the year, #genchat attendance at Bluesky has returned to the same levels as when it ended at Twitter, which was a fraction of what it had been in its early year

Since then, #genchat has expanded to Mastodon and moved from Twitter to Bluesky. I’ve been hosting for eight years - longer than any previous host. And it’s becoming harder to keep coming up with new content, questions, etc., with other projects demanding my attention.

I know @danielloftus.projectinfant.ie posts a lot on Substack. I'm not sure what the difference between that & a blog is, though; but Daniel is pretty cutting-edge with these kinds of things. #genchat

There's a guy over on Mastodon who audiotaped/recorded interviews with his grandmother during his weekly visits before she died. He got to spend precious time with her & now as he's transcribing, he gets to remember her. #genchat
