Coffee Pot on the Stove.' Georges Le Brun is a key figure of the Verviers School in Belgium. He lived most of his life in isolated villages in the Ardennes and depicted in his works the life of this region and the people who lived there. He died, aged serving as a medic during WW1. This is from 1903

Louis Bouché's picture of Eloise Spaeth (c1943) (wife of the industrialist and sometime VP of the Whitney) is typical of his mature realist style, a period in which he adhered to Henri Matisse's statement about painting: 'Every corner of the canvas should be alive.' Still underrated in my opinion
