New episode! Two Giant Men Play Super Mario Galaxy. About 40 minutes of background on the game, then 1 hour 20 of *takes*.

I'm writing a chapter about the differences (and similarities) of video games and social media for children.

My first attempt is:
Social media is designed for adults and inherited by children.
Video games are designed for child-like play and inherited by adults.

How would you depicy differences?

Wondering what are the digital “gray spaces” where children play? We have a similar instinct to direct them to “green” digital spaces designed for kids, but this article highlights that other spaces offer play opportunity in spite of risks.

Still time to add your little indie game to our lineup (for free). If you are on console (PEGI 3, 7 or 12), hit me up. If families love your game, all the better.

Love the name Hanafuda. "Hanafuda is a flower-themed card game and was Nintendo’s first ever product, way back when it was founded in 1889."

It's the year of peculiarly named essential resources (looking at you Ludocene too).

Don't sleep on this amazing newsletter.
After 9 years, I'm renaming my Nintendo newsletter.

Switch Weekly becomes Hanafuda Report this Sunday.

Same human curation of the best Nintendo links, commentary from me, plus what new games are worth playing.

First issue under the new name lands Oct 26.
New site goes live then too!

More soon. 👋

What is the best metaphor or description for video games you've heard. "Operas made of bridges", "Poems for Fingertips". How do we best name and communicate these encounters that we love?
