old houses and old cats
I kind of spiraled yesterday about wanting to delete anything with an algorithm including Spotify. Like I want to bring back blogging instead of posting my old house stuff on IG.

A definite pro to living in a rural suburb is I am fairly isolated from ChatGPT conversations and 30 minutes with friends visiting from SF proved that

I read small wonders recently (2002) and so much of it really resonated right now. I recommend reading it. Also I’m now obsessed with the concept of being a localvore - catch me at the farmers market today buying my wine and flour

I think “bed rot” and jokes about getting out of bed are the new wine mom schtick (hated both 🖤)

Having an old house with land is perfect because I do not worry about my milkweed getting out of control. Or any other natives for that matter.

I do have faith this ghoulish era will be over someday but I am sad that the damage to our reputation is likely irreversible in my lifetime

Work is absolutely beating me down. My garden is chaos my house is chaos. I don’t know how my peers also have kids.

Love my cats but if one more tries to climb on me when it’s 85-95 degrees and we have no AC I’m going to lose it

Tried pine tar and linseed oil on my clothesline to test it out and I need another coat but I like it!

My formerly abused foster cat has been very very slow on progress and still seems very very depressed. I’m a little frustrated and discouraged which is just a reality of fostering, it’s not his fault. He did choose to sit on my lap tonight though.

I was young and dumb when I bought this house and I regret the exterior color scheme and my kitchen floor. I want to redo both this year 😅

Old houses are great for fostering because I have a bunch of random doors and little areas that can be closed off

Took in an abused cat as a foster - not my first but this is the most shut down cat I’ve ever met

Pride month is scary different this year and it’s only day 4

If you let the hard water build up enough on your fixtures eventually you can just peel it off in chunks 😬😬😬

Wastewater databases are my thing (because I’m severelyyyyyyy emetophobic)
I have been sick for a week and I just read about "something going around" in a subreddit, which I guess is how I get my information now that the CDC is officially spending the next four years determining when and how microscopes became gay.

Our county used to have so many train stations that would be extremely convenient to have back 😭 there’s one by my house that goes into our town and I would killlll for that

I love art - life is too short to put mass produced stuff in your house

Tilefest purchases

There’s never a worse idea than starting a closet cleanout / seasonal switch at 8pm after work 😭

I got this cat for free at a DC shelter seven years ago because she was diagnosed with metastatic mammary cancer. No idea how she’s still here but it is the greatest joy of my life to give her a cozy home and open windows 🖤

I need to commiserate with a fellow corporate person about how bad the new outlook is. I can’t use it and refuse.

The linseed oil ep of True Tales from Old Houses gave me the push I needed to stick to painting our carriage house with linseed
