Two stories in one. 57 years ago today I began my love hate relationship with NUFC at St James Park v Leeds Utd and the rest as they say is history. For most of that time we've been trophy virgins, only the Fairs Cup in '69 and i didnt get to that one.

Happily back home from Birmingham. Good 3.2 away win at the dirty Brummies and into the FA Cup 5th round draw.

Long drive back from SJP last night after watching Toon dismantle Arsenal and reach League Cup Final at Wembley 16th March. It's not too much to ask for me to actually see NUFC lift a trophy. I was in my pram in 55 and couldn't go in 69. We'll find out our opponents tonight.

Toon bound v Arsenal 2nd leg of League Cup Semi Final. All of a sudden our two goal lead looks pretty flimsy after our last two home performances. If we score first then the pressure's off. If Arsenal score first it's squeaky bum time. An interesting evening in store. Which NUFC will turn up ?

Toon bound this morning v Fulham. My passion since I was a kid. Used to be a half hour - 40 min journey, up until 1983, but now a 7 hour return journey. Hoping for a win and that Wednesday's League Cup Semi Final doesn't affect their game.

Beat 1.4 by Bournemouth who thoroughly deserved their win. From the outset they pressed and played us at our own game. We had chances but they took theirs. Without taking away credit from them we had too many that weren't on top of their game. Move on and get it right at Southampton next week.

Early start this morning for our 12.30 ko v Bournemouth for the "Eddie Howe Derby". Win today and it's a new club record of 10 wins on the spin. Not an easy game as Bournemouth are on a good run too.

On the way home after game and st opped for coffee. A good 3.0 win over Wolves and I'm told our first double over them in 119 years. It was a difficult game with both sides having good chances but Wolves very wasteful. Nine wins in row in all competitions, let's make it 10 on Saturday.

Another 450 mile round trip to Newcastle for tonight's game v Wolves. A win tonight, and we're up to 4th, and no one would have believed that could happen after that run we had before Christmas. Trust Eddie, he'll get us there.

Wasn't quite the banana skin I was expecting and a 3.1 win over Bromley will do. My thoughts turned to times past and Cup embarrassments. Not to worry. Level by HT. Hope the Bromley fans had a great time despite their result, they weren't disgraced. Next round Birmingham City away . #NUFC

Match day - nothing like FA Cup 3rd round so Toon bound v Bromley. Pleased I'm on train today and not driving, it's -5 out there today. Even with a 2nd string side it should be enough to beat Bromley but this NUFC. We all know our past record.

I hadn't mentioned in my earlier post but these are my go to breed of dog. English Bull Terrier. We rescued Mimi 3 months ago and she's our most difficult one yet, (she's our third). She'll get there with a lot of love and patience.
