Cannot agree. Crabb hugely talented and has done significant work. My guess is she was asked to do a quick piece - never going to be great but editors require it sometimes. Judge her on her output generally, not one hot take.

Not sure why you’re blaming the journalists. From what I read - and maybe not representative- but good journalists are challenging Trump, and are scrambling to keep up with daily outrages. Many do know the stakes.

It’s been going on for years! I banned it at a state level at The Age - we reserved the right to seek third party comment or at least to disclose that it was a condition that we did not. “Drops” insidious and media should refuse them - why haven’t Canberra journos done so, or their organisation?

My advice for what it’s worth? Get out of the office, go on the ground.

You two are essential listening in a historic (and often scary) time of shuddering change and uncertainty.
