this is such a ridiculously bourgeois sentiment, i have no idea how you could even type this without realizing that
"Why are you complaining about getting gouged by one company when you could have just bought all the ingredients for yourself and been gouged by 14 different companies for slightly less plus also had a ton of leftover ingredients you could then throw out or eat until you never want a burrito again?"

the only way this works is if Democrats yell very loudly that the ban was passed for a reason and that Donald Trump and the Republicans are scheming with Communist China to sell your children's data but national Democrats have never really shown guts like that at all
Anybody acting like TikTok going offline isn’t a disaster for Democrats is deeply unserious.

Most political issues never touch people’s daily lives—but 170 million Americans just had their favorite social media platform taken away from them.

And Trump will position himself as the savior. JFC.

I am a climate scientist and this is correct ⬇️
Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.

"NIMBY group uses lawsuit to stop wharf retrofit citing lack of a proper environmental review that leads to part of said wharf collapsing and killing someone due to weather" sounds like it would be an Onion headline attacking California but it's actually what happened in Santa Cruz this monday
The Santa Cruz Wharf needed repairs. A court battle followed instead
Santa Cruz's plan to restore and expand the city's historic wharf was held up by court losses and its huge price tag.

the "West Oakland BART/Mainline rail hub" is probably just as exciting as the potential for electrification. one of BART's biggest weaknesses rn is subpar Amtrak connections, with CS having to skip Richmond and Coliseum being an afterthought. (1)
Huge document drop on the California State Rail Plan website, including a statewide network takt diagram and full list of infrastructure projects. For the first time, we are seeing the state planning an electrified "Sac-OAK-SF-SJ Mega Corridor":

Evidence has demonstrated this effect in numerous cities now.

I understand why it sounds weird to say, 'building a bunch of fancy new townhouses and skyscrapers will make housing more affordable!' but it simply appears to be true.
So proud of the great work happening in Minneapolis, which shows that boosting housing supply helps make homes more affordable.

everyone believes that Trump is cleverly lying to someone else and that they have divined his true intent: theirs
Do you think this is because of lack of exposure to his actual words? Or do they take his words to mean something different than their plain meaning?

i had a long talk with my mother over thanksgiving, not a trump voter, about what trump was likely to do. she repeatedly denied that trump would ever do things which he had already done, and said he would do again, on the basis that he was a pathological liar.
There were mind-boggling reports of people talking to marginal Trump voters is that repeatedly answering their delusions by pointing out things that Donald Trump had *actually said and done* would only result in them getting more and more hostile.
