Oh God... my perfect lab report in instrumental analysis... cut down so young, face in the mud with a B...over calling the AA a machine—such needless brutality.

May God forgive you, Dr Peters, because I will not.

True, though, it was more a commentary on the absurdity of American (and Texan in particular) sized portions that are available in a regular grocery store. I have one of these in my freezer at home (I have a separate freezer for meat, natch)

Talking at BBPore in Graz today on how the metals in MOFs can be used in immunology.

It had to think about this for 12 seconds before coming to the completely wrong answer.

I’m 100% going to fuck up the first AI drive-thru I find.

Finished the Eu4MOFs conference in Krakow, a joint academic and industry meeting bringing together (pretty much excclusively) European companies and researchers to try to bridge the scary jump from bench to consumer of MOFs. Dariusz Matoga (Jagiellonian University) hosted a beautiful conference

Much is said about Europe's affordable healthcare, but its very affordable concert tickets are totally unsung. I took my son to a concert and bought two tickets for 180 eurobucks that would have cost almost $700 in the US.

Ein Dreibein-Grill. A German style grill. How did I not know Northern Europe has its own grill culture with its own grill? Yall been holding back with the grillparty tweets.

lol omg noooooo I’ve never been this attacked by toilet hygiene products.

Millennial (‘81 to ‘96) scented toilet balls. The uncanny scent of unwashed JNKO jeans, Yankee Candles, and CK One, right in your toilet, where those smells belong.

They even have a flip phone!

The Hopistal at RWTH Aachen University (Uniklinik) has that so-ugly-it’s-cute vibe.

Amongst its many questionable design choices… it has carpet. The hospital has carpet! Carpet! In a clinic!

For a guy who runs a lab that goes through a thousand+ mice a year, I’d like to think the emergency vet bill for my son’s rats will buy me a little good graces should heaven be run by rodents.

Ray Baughman, nanotech pioneer, UT Dallas Welch Chair, National Academy of Engineering and Inventors member, carbon nanotube production innovator, and editor at Science, has passed. He accomplished all that and raised two girls as a single dad. I know I will miss him.
