If you fear for your life in the street, ride your bike on the sidewalk. In 2025 given all we know about the threats from vehicular violence, these shouldn't be the only two choices available.
Went on a 4 mile walk and saw about 6 cyclist using the sidewalk. Also saw this driver related destruction of a crosswalk sign.
I wish people wouldn't use the sidewalk. More cyclists on the road increases visibility and safety for all cyclists. But I understand why people use the sidewalk. 😐

The hearse that carried Lincoln's body through Springfield, Illinois. It featured a panel that showcased 36 stars (one for each state of the Union) as well as a silver laurel wreath and two inverted torches, representing the life extinguished. Sadly, the hearse was destroyed in a fire in 1887.
