Back in my day, we took out our rage the NORMAL way: out on our family and loved ones, and in a way that corroded our relationships.

From detaining student protesters to threatening to deport rival politicians, Trump has weaponized the immigration system to suppress dissent. Tmrw, join us, @nyulaw.bsky.social's Prof. Alina Das, and @knightcolumbia.org's Ramya Krishnan to discuss defending free speech in the immigration context.

Last Thanksgiving, two Dallas Police officers knocked on my door, citing a tip from the FBI national threat operations center that I was beating my girlfriend. The incident report confirms this. Today, I obtained a file from the FBI via FOIA that states the FBI has no record of receiving such a tip.

A federal court just blocked a ridiculous law that banned almost all speech on public college campuses in Texas after 10 p.m., including student journalism.

Huge win by @thefireorg.bsky.social defending the First Amendment.

Free speech doesn’t have a curfew.
VICTORY: Federal court halts Texas’ ‘no First Amendment after dark’ campus speech ban
A federal judge issued a preliminary injunction blocking the University of Texas from enforcing a law that bans virtually all free speech on public university campuses after dark

It's an absolute embarrassment for Democrats that Donald Trump has shown more interest in ending the killing in Gaza than Joe Biden did.

Brotherhood and sisterhood are forced to take a backseat to bureaucracy and suppression in Greek Life at @GallaudetU.

Their new Greek Reform Guidelines impose sweeping rules that ban words like “pledge,” control student attire at events, and restrict who can become members.

Kimmel’s estimated Tuesday viewership (on TV alone) was 6.26 million, but since ABC’s Sinclair & NextStar affiliates censored that number only represents 77% of the possible number. Factoring back in the blacklisting stations, it’s possible that his projected rating would have been 8.13 million.

How about you actually support the First Amendment by NOT countering anti-free speech gov't action with MORE anti-free speech gov't action?
Can’t wait to break Sinclair up. Corporate media consolidation doesn’t jibe with democracy. And although Sinclair isn’t a fan of democracy, most people are.

FIRE’s Bob Corn-Revere for @PostOpinions: FCC Chair Brendan Carr nakedly abused government power to pressure ABC into removing Jimmy Kimmel from the air for his speech. In America, the government doesn’t get to play network executive and determine who and what you watch.

Not justiciable in the federal courts, not justiciable in the state courts.

Basically, legislatures can use their constitutional powers to game the system for partisan advantage, and courts (who are the constitutional referees in all of this) can do fuck-all about it.
NEW: The South Carolina Supreme Court has ruled that state-law partisan gerrymandering claims are non-justiciable. Case had challenged South Carolina’s congressional map.
