Writing a movie in the 80s/90s was so easy. It was just MadLibs.

(Character) from (rich upper middle class city suburb) experiences (life challenge). Hijinks ensue. They meet (character of opposite sex) who helps them. They become a better person and fall in love with (character of opposite sex).

This is legitimately wild.

Feel like I haven’t heard as much about gambling from those I talk to compared to even a few years ago, and fascinating to see data to back up that anecdotal evidence.

The best genre of sports press release is upper management saying "We failed, and I take full responsibility for that" but then that person is still employed and it turns out they're announcing firing someone else.

It's just a beautiful encapsulation of where the Twins are at as an organization.
The Minnesota Twins today announced that Rocco Baldelli will not return as the club’s manager in 2026.

The media allowing Trump plausible deniability on Project 2025 during the campaign is right up there with Iraq War stenography in craven, lazy disgracefulness
hey so this is insane

It is possible to hold both of these things true at the same time:

1) political violence is never an appropriate choice in a civilized society

2) Charlie Kirk’s dream is to create exactly the kind of society he currently lives in, as spoken from his own mouth

All within a mile or two of home.

You cannot convince me there’s a better area in Minneapolis than Northeast (specifically the neighborhoods in the SW part of it: St Anthony East/West, Sheridan, Logan Park, Bottineau, Holland)
Bars of Fourth Street NE.

Minneapolis, Minnesota

Eric Adams is just speed running scandal types.

I mean, my god, money in a potato chip bag? That means he’s already to “college football recruiting” in the scandal style playbook. The man is an unstoppable force of nature at this point.

Yeah, but also she is not good at this.

She lost. Badly.

Her high water point in polling was when Biden dropped out and she represented desperately wanted change.

Then she said “I’m not changing anything,” tracked right, and tanked.

Fuck the NR, their reasoning is bad, but broken clocks, etc.
This is precisely what a right-wing publication with a deeply troubled racial & gender history going back to its founder William F. Buckley says when they see a liberal Black woman who is good at this. They fear her.

Republican consultant Dustin Grage posted what has long been an open secret: “Every Republican in Minneapolis is going to be voting for Jacob Frey.”

That’s probably why 28% of his donors are Republican donors.

Republicans want Frey, but the Minneapolis DFL wants @omarfatehmn.com.

Looking at resumes for an open creative video position is exhausting.

My new pet peeve is people who try to get too cute with their resume and have sidebars where THEY RATE THEMSELVES FROM 1-100 ON SKILLS. WHY! STOP! I DONT WANT TO KNOW YOUR SELF EVAL "SCORE" ON PREMIERE!

NOT HELPFUL, JUST WEIRD.

I’d say that this is a very revealing comment except what is revealed is very obvious: generative AI is an interesting technology with what will probably prove to be a few useful applications, and it’s being inflated into a trillion dollars year industry because tech has no other good ideas.
This was the line that made me do a double take.

Like, my dude (though you are in no way actually "my dude"), this is a choice you guys made because improvements to humanity that don't involve investors like yourself becoming richer than God are anathema to your worldview.

And then this shit just came out.

When you’re making over $700k a year, gaining $12k is nothing. It’s a nice vacation, redoing the garage, giving a niece/nephew a car.

When you’re making $23k a year, losing $1600 is “are we paying for food or for the house or for medical bills” territory.
Budzinski: Families making over $700,000 a year will see a boost of $12,000 almost entirely from tax cuts. Shockingly, households making $23,000 a year or less are set to lose about $1600 a year, mostly due to deep cuts to Medicaid and food assistance

MOTHER FUCKING MAMDANI DID IT! Work to do in the general against Adams and probably Cuomo again but, HOLY SHIT. What a win. Thought this might take a week of ranked choice but first ballot!

And HUGE ups to Lander. Hoping we see him on the national stage soon, primarying some loser neo-lib Dem.
Hope and solidarity won tonight, and will win again in November.

Congratulations, @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social

right-wingers will often say that America deserves credit for ending slavery rather than blame for having slavery. but then we made a holiday to commemorate the end of slavery and they still got mad, which should tell you what their real objection is.
when you’re so racist you don’t let your workers have a day off for a holiday recognizing the end of slavery

Just some creepy armed Mad Max guys trying to gain entry to Dodgers Stadium.

ICE says it wasn’t them. DHS says they were Border Patrol. But honestly who the hell knows? They’ve given permission for any psycho to put on a ski mask, point a gun, grab people & throw them into an unmarked vehicle.

I really want to like Bluesky, but the poster energy is way off.

Twitter is legitimately funny and enjoyable as I scroll through most of it whereas everything on here just has really weird 50 year old aunt Resist lib vibes. I feel like I’m on Facebook. It kinda sucks.

My grumpiest wedding opinion is that after about the third time clinking glasses for a kiss at the reception, it’s just annoying.

Let the kids enjoy dinner. It’s a long ass day, they gotta eat and you’re holding them hostage for a random smooch.

Really awesome that my city council representative thinks the biggest issue facing Minneapolis policing is scheduling of off duty policing as opposed to, you know, maybe anything dealing with the consent decree that MPD continues to slow roll and avoid
“most urgent need to change mpd”

mills: accountability

emilio: cpac citizen police accountability committee, funds for social work and diversion

rainville: reform scheduling of off duty policing

The full Inside The NBA crew was so, so good talking about Kevin Thomas. Ernie was next level.

I didn’t know Kevin but shed a few tears hearing them talk about who he was and the impact he had. The way the “talent” on that show so obviously care about their crew is incredible in a tough industry.
Once again, I am astounded by Ernie Johnson’s ability to host Inside The NBA, allowing each of the former players their glory and personas, while authentically showing up as himself and giving structure to the whole shebang.

His eulogy to Kevin Thomas made it very dusty in my house.
