Oooh yes that's true I see many Japanese learners talk about Anki!! I didn't know that that's so cool :) I guess I'll have to try Anki for real one day anyway!

Really? :O I didn't know that, I've never really used Anki... I guess I've always been more attracted by Quizlet's UI to be honest

Busuu is honestly really good! I also like that people can correct exercises, it's a really nice feature!!

I can't blame you, Clozemaster seems to be a hit or miss sometimes! I like it because it offers a lot of languages, something not every app does (for obvious reasons). Also the price being high is a valid reason to leave, I unfortunately left Babbel for this reason although I really enjoyed it

Oh and Quizlet! Super useful when I make my flashcards :)

My two favourites are Busuu and Clozemaster. I like Babbel too but unfortunately too expensive for me
Not the same type of apps/website but I use WordReference (for many languages) and SpanishDictionary.com A LOT, they're super cool

And I do agree, Duolingo can be cool sometimes and good for people who enjoy the app! But yeah you definitely can't learn a language only using the app as they like the claim

Oh also how much they try to make money when the app was meant to be free and was free for a long time until they became super greedy... I find it quite revolting

Mostly because of how gamified it became, and the big use of AI over real employees and people making courses

Before that I used to like Duolingo quite a lot and I used it often, because I grew more and more tired of the direction it was taking

I have become such a Duolingo hater, anytime someone says they learnt only with Duolingo I'm thinking nah mate you're a liar 😭
