They could have dipped the bow in resin to keep the glitter sealed away cleanly at least. If the spring needs to be springy, just paint it a dark solid red, no glitter or resign.

I have no problem helping other Americans in the worst situations, but if you're going to tell off the hand that feeds, institute an opt out program that calls it exactly what it is. You can opt out of assistance, but you need to commit and not lie. Betting 90% would come around really fast.
