And then there's the stunning Great Blue Lobelia. Its intricate, two-lipped flowers are a perfect landing pad for native bees, like the federally endangered Rusty Patched Bumble Bee. Fun fact: its species name, siphilitica, comes from a mistaken belief that it could treat syphilis! 👀

Let's talk about this red😳 My camera can't even capture how vibrant Lobelia cardinalis is. It’s a pure, electric scarlet that hummingbirds can't resist. It’s their #1 draft pick. This plant loves moisture and is a perfect choice for rain gardens or stream banks.

Late July in the GardenWild garden means-Lobelia Blooms 😍Two of my absolute favorite Virginia natives are putting on their late-summer show: the fiery Cardinal Flower (Lobelia cardinalis) and the cool Great Blue Lobelia (Lobelia siphilitica).
