🔴 REPORT | Gaza’s rubble now exceeds 60 million tons, including 4 million tons of hazardous waste, according to official Palestinian figures presented this week by the Environmental Quality Authority during an emergency government meeting on the Gaza Strip, Al Araby reported. The authority reported that the destruction caused by Israel’s war has generated 50,000 tons of asbestos, and around 100,000 tons of explosives and unexploded ordnance. It warned that this massive volume of waste poses severe long-term environmental and public health risks. Officials also said the assault has destroyed 80 percent of Gaza’s water and sanitation systems, contaminated the coastal aquifer, and wiped out more than 2,000 industrial facilities. At least 700,000 tons of solid waste have accumulated in makeshift dumps after formal landfills and medical waste treatment sites were destroyed. Forced displacement from northern Gaza to central and southern areas has also spread contamination to new zones. Sources said the surveillance at the Civil-Military Coordination Center in Kiryat Gat alarmed personnel from several countries, including the U.S.,, and became so extensive that the American commander, Lt. Gen. Patrick Frank, summoned his Israeli counterpart and demanded that all recording stop immediately. Staff and visiting officials were later warned not to share sensitive material inside the facility over fears it could be collected and exploited. In a denial carried by Channel 13, the IDF said it merely “documents and summarizes meetings through protocols” in a transparent manner.

It’s ignoring the rest,” Buttu said. “The question you’re asking is a very dangerous question in terms of the renaissance of Palestinian leadership,” said @FadiQuran , senior director at Avaaz. “It’s not something I would say even comfortable to discuss in front of cameras… Let’s speak honestly. Who has an interest in there being a powerful, credible, inspiring, transformative Palestinian leadership? Are any Middle Eastern governments interested in seeing something like that?” Stating that Israel, United States and Europe are all opposed, he said that building leadership openly before real power exists would lead to it being crushed. Quran said Israel has failed to erase Palestinians biologically and is now pursuing what he described as “genocide by attrition plus politicide,” aimed at erasing Palestinian political agency. I cannot imagine the level of moral bankruptcy to describe the actions of people whose boat has just been hit by a missile from nowhere (this was the FIRST such strike) and who were most likely making a desperate attempt not to drown in the ocean as trying to "stay in the fight."
