Just saw this post, Looks amazing. Never seen it in European honey bees. But this behaviour does occur in some species of Asian honey bees. There are many different species, often stingless, so it makes sense that they would make themselves look as threatening as possible in a swarm.

It's the small bee at the centre of the shot coming out of the cell.
