It’s a momentous day for me and for Lucid Commerce.

Today marks the last day of my 24-year journey from freelance designer and developer to agency owner to soloist—and the countless roles woven in between.

I’m sending documents to New Zealand—by @USPS Priority Mail International. It’s taken 8 days just to get from Vermont to New York. And this is with PRIORITY—having paid $45! I hate to think how long it would take if not sent priority.

It’s somewhat interesting to see how BFCM (and the lead-up to it) impacts a B2B brand that doesn’t sell consumer products and doesn’t run sales. Presumably the people making the buying decisions in these mom-and-pop customer businesses are distracted by their personal shopping for the holidays.

Woah, @shopify.bsky.social Hydrogen has come a long way! If you haven’t looked at it in a while, I think you’ll be surprised how modular it is and how many components are now available out of the box.

A number of people have told me brands won’t buy a @shopify.bsky.social project without a lengthy sales conversation due to the size of the transaction and the unknown unknowns. I’m trying to simplify the approach and make payment terms more accessible so it’s an easy decision. Challenge me.

As founders, it’s easy to let work consume our headspace—even when we appear to be disconnected.

For most of my career, I’ve taken pride in not working evenings and weekends but I realized many years ago that even if I’m not “working”, I’m not really totally disengaged in my head.
