Four sea slugs (costasiella kuroshimae aka the leaf sheep, hypselodoris apolegma, chromodoris annae, and hypselodoris perii) floating through the cosmos, a blue black background filled with stars. Spent some time today organizing my paints and experimenting with some new shimmery metallic watercolors that I made using ethically sourced mica powder! Been trying to get back to really just having fun with art and it felt like I got there today 💕

This is some traditional art of Seaosaur's mascot! It's a little blue dinosaur (plesiosaurus inspired) that loves to wear costumes so I gave him a headband and cape that are inspired by the sea slug Chromodoris Roboi. The headband is yellow with purple rhinophores and the cape is yellow, purple, and blue with purple gills. It's surrounded by a blue green background with bubbles and sparkles :)

On stream today we made some little drawings of snacks and drinks you can "order" using the !ordertea, !ordercoffee, and !orderfood commands in chat :) They're going to be used for an art game during the fundraising and celebration stream on Saturday!

During Galaxy Garden Cafe streams, you can order tea, coffee, and food in chat using chat commands, and you are given something at random! We used the commands to choose what to draw today and came up with, starting from the top - Pulsar Pumpkin Spice Latte, Red Dwarf Star Grilled Cheese, Rooibos Chai with Milk, and Baked Calypso Camoonbert with a baguette and honey. These are the drawings for each of those, using acrylic paint markers. They're going to be used for a community art game at this Saturday's stream.

An acrylic and gold watercolor painting of a "dragonmaid" - instead of a mermaid, it's a woman with the body of a dragon, maybe a wyrm (no legs or wings) or a lindwyrm (two front arms/legs no wings) depending on how you want to view it. The design of this piece is inspired by Chinese folk art of dragons. She is flying in the sky surrounded by some stylized blue-green clouds. The sky itself is more of a beige color, meant to represent a parchment more than an actual sky (as in some Chinese folk ary paintings) The dragon part of the body is twisting around in several loops and is mostly red with a stylized blue-green mane that travels the length of the tail. Each scale is lined with with black ink and some of them are purple and blue, and some have a little shimmery gold outline. The mermaid doesn't have normal hair but several thick blue-green tendrils billowing behind it in the wind. Her forehead also has several purple, blue, red, and gold colored scales that lead back to the tendrils and two long, sharp horns on the top of her head that swoop backwards. She has large fin-like ears, and her eyes are yellow with tiny black slits. Her skin is yellow with smaller dragon scales on the cheeks and as forearms, and her hands, which have sharp claws, are purple.

Three sketches of the same reference of a woman holding a pencil sitting at a desk. The perspective is a bit extreme with the hand holding the pencil much closer to the camera. Each sketch is timed - 1 minute, 5 minutes, and 24 minutes respectively. The goal of these streams is to get better at using references while not getting too bogged down with the details. The motto (that I frequently repeat mostly to remind myself, a recovering perfectionist lol) is "Progress not Perfection!"

There is a Wednesday stream for playing Stardew Valley at 4pm EST, and there is an 8 hour stream on Saturday the 21st to celebrate reaching 1000 followers on Twitch. For this update I added a lot of gouache, especially in the background as I wasn't super happy with some areas. Ended up having to go back over some of the sea urchins in her hair with acrylic paint later. Added some green fishies and plants! #mermay2025 #workinprogress #mermay #mermaid #painting

The hair has several shades of red that provide depth for different strands of hair curling and floating about, and the tail has several layers of blues and greens. In addition , the mermaid's top has some blue and gold added to it.
