💡 In Wales & Northern Ireland, displaying the correct rating is mandatory—and businesses can face fines.

The Food Standards Agency says this could prevent 4,000 foodborne illnesses annually in England.

One local fish & chip shop with a real 5-star rating told us:

“For people to display a wrong rating, it actually devalues the system. We work hard to uphold high standards every day—it’s frustrating to see others cutting corners.”

🍽️ 22 food outlets in Maidstone town centre have a hygiene rating of 3 or below.

12 displayed no rating
7 inflated their scores
2 falsely claimed they were “awaiting inspection”
95% weren’t showing their correct sticker.

And this isn't illegal
