It's good for the league to have teams in both Seattle and Vegas. And even if those teams generally suck, no one wants to steal teams from Charlotte or Sacramento. So that leaves expansion, adding teams that will grow the audience in those strong markets. Those are teams that can and should succeed.

As far as making expansion teams successful goes, a lot of it comes down to the size and economic base of the cities and the financial health of the ownership. And if you had to bet on an expansion team, would you put it in Charlotte, or would you put it in Seattle or Vegas?

We'd be increasing the number of NBA teams (and, correspondingly, NBA players) by less than 7%. I don't think it will do appreciable damage to the league other than a couple of years of roster shakeups from the expansion draft.

The thing is, though, there are far more "that guy should be an All-Star but isn't because there's no room" guys than there were 20 years ago. Your average 13th man on today's rosters would be a 9th man back then. And no matter how many teams you have, there will only ever be 4 conference finalists.

But, I mean, this is an argument against literally ever expanding. From these metrics, if the league contracted to 24 teams, on average, every team would have 5 tier 1-3 players, enough to field a starting lineup. If they contracted to 10 teams, every player in the league would be at least tier 3.

One counterpoint: at least the basketball looks better. There's defense being played, and watching the OGs determined to not get shown up by rookies was actually awesome.

Watching these guys determined not to get roasted by rookies was actually awesome. This format is a keeper.

When you have multiple guys who can handle the ball, you just need a dynamic offense that gives everyone room to do what they do and keep the ball moving.

Colangelo as an owner? Because they definitely need a new owner if they ever want to build anything.

As soon as Fox signs on, he's back to the third string, so I'm not too worried.

The bronze bust of Magnus Hirschfeld somehow survived the bonfire.

A street cleaner salvaged it from the ashes the day after the burnings & hid it.

The bust was donated to the Berlin Academy of Arts in the GDR after the end of World War II.

I think it would be better to say that you should be aware of the risks you're taking than that you should always avoid it. They're going to come after all of us sooner or later, so the choice about how big a target you want to make yourself personally is a strategic choice.
