Tate Britain's Lee Miller exhibition is fascinating - Surrealism, erotica, fashion, World War 2, the camps, the aftermath, and threading it all together, Miller herself, BLAZINGLY, heroically talented, courageous, inspiring.

Don't miss it.

The first episode of #Pluribis the best first episode since 'Severance'. At least that good.

Still the best Frankenstein film I've seen since Karloff and Whale's, recommended by @andrewmale.bsky.social over at the old place.

@graemethomson.bsky.social Over on a music board I spend far too much time on. (Thought it might be nice to let you see, most writers never get to hear enough feedback from readers.)

"I loved his book on Simple Minds, and I'm really enjoying this one. It's superb."

This swept me off my feet when first heard it, felt like leaves being rushed along a street by the wind - midfifties and a new album still did that to me.

Ravishingly, walk-into beautiful.

James Bridle @jamesbridle.bsky.social WAYS OF BEING is 💥incredible💥, been on my shelf for over a year but if I'd had any idea it would be this fascinating... I now can't stop reading parts out to my wife, to friends, colleagues...

Can't recommend this @emmapollock.bsky.social album with enough conviction. If you enjoy the likes of Laura Marling, Aimee Mann, Fiona Apple, 'Life Is Sweet' Maria McKee..., give it a listen.

I'm going to be playing this for years to come.

Won't rush to play 'Electric Nebraska' again but the Outtakes here are GREAT!

Watched Friedkin's film of THE BIRTHDAY PARTY (1968) over the last couple of nights. A house-bound cranking of 'family' (and intruder) tension, dark humour and intimate conflict, he clearly took a lot from this on into 'THE EXORCIST' later. #amwatching #films #WilliamFriedkin #HaroldPinter #cinema

I recently read 'Heatwave' by John L Williams (brilliant) and came to exactly the same conclusion. What a fetid, horrid era in so many ways. Punk, when it happened, for all of its 'barbarians at the gate' shockingness at the time, was almost a moralistic reaction to the mainstream.

This new Last Dinner Party album makes me feel like a kid again, the sheer escapist pleasure/entertainment I'm getting from it, without any chin stroking required. It's like watching 'The Box of Delights' on TV and looking forward to Christmas.
