I think it's mostly just a relic of being old. Like, hardly anyone uses GameFAQs anymore. So people who used those platforms move on and the new fans come in through social platforms, many (most?) of which aren't specifically furry. Feels like people don't really use "websites" these days

Oh I definitely appreciate the different experiences, it's fun finding out how everyone "got into" furry. I'm mostly musing for selfish reasons because as an artist who makes a living on art it makes it a lot harder to know where audiences are forming and how to penetrate those spaces

I have nothing to back this up, of course, I just get the sense that FA doesn't get the eyes it once did and that has probably moved to new social platforms, like how people complain Discord servers have replaced forums. I wouldn't be surprised if younger fans exclusively engage through, say, reddit
