It’s also a failure of politics.
The political sphere in the western world is bought and paid for by the elite. Ab Lincoln would probably say, government of the people, by the billionaires, for the corporations.

It’s much worse, it’s a failure of politics & democracy. In days of yore this level of inequality matched with hunger & desperation would lead to revolution and insurrection.
In a democracy there’s no need as we get the vote. Which is meaningless without real economic choice.
