slight addendum to this: the idea of being so gradually primed for some specific stimulus/idea over time, that when someone finally did just bluntly stick it in my face, it'd just start at a baseline of hazy

if you're awake enough to process or have opinions on what's getting slipped between your ears that aren't just "yes" and "of course," more exposure will ensure you never have to analyze it again.
"gradually growing more dull and compliant" due to outside stimulus. passively being worn down by an external force that's whittling away everything between you and acceptance and receptiveness to what you're told. constantly. looping. jaw going slack, sitting back on the couch, taking it in.
