Twenty years ago I would manage to make it out to way more films. I would buy a ten pack of tickets, at least. Harder to find the time for TIFF nowadays, but I am glad to have friends who are organized enough to make sure we all still go.

I saw Dinner With Friends with my friends. The only other film I managed to see at #TIFF50. What a lovely movie. Apparently they shot it all in 9 days for next to no money. Really incredible. Canadian production, takes place in Toronto, over a series of dinner parties. Felt so authentic.

I have no good reason to be that invested in this election, but the fact that so many people who are part of the system endorsed the fucking disgrace that is Cuomo rather than see Mamdani win has me very emotionally invested. Happy to see this early lead.

Pretty embarrassing to happen at that school in particular. Their students seem to have learned their statement of purpose better than their principal. Where my daughter goes next year!

My cousin and I joke about there being no one to write the stories of Sri Lankan Tamils because their parents made them all become accountants or doctors. But no, Vasugi wrote this book about the war that I grabbed from her ages ago and am now sitting down to read: Brotherless Night.

I finished Red Harvest, a graphic novel about the forced famine in Ukraine. The illustration is incredible. Captures the mood of such a sad story perfectly.
