Where Batman meets Henry James.
Youtube has vids of Dua Lipa covering Manu Chao, Alizée, Vanessa Paridis, the Scorpions, Abba. Beginning to think she's not American.

All day has felt like Saturday. Hope day after tomorrow I don't show up at work without thinking about it.

Rewatched Airplane! which I hadn't seen in about 40 years and odd how many gags I remembered. But not the racist bits like an African tribe innately good at basketball. Did nobody question that? The jive talk bits don't play very well now either.

For once I want to see a documentary about a musician/actor/artist that's not "She was a complicated person. She kept secrets. Did anybody know who she really was?"

November 28, 2025 at 1:27 AM
I had Thanksgiving with a bunch of engineers and they have a pretty different view of AI than the humanities types I mainly know.

Somebody I know just posted an AI pic of her sitting on a couch reading but why? Does she not have a couch?

My 7 year old just reached for a piece of pizza fresh out of the oven and exclaimed, in the same tone as an adult swearing…

“English folklore, that’s hot!”

I choked laughing ENGLISH FOLKLORE AS A SWEAR? WHO ARE YOU?!?

If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

I work half a day tomorrow so will spend all night wondering where to have lunch. The sushi place that opens so late I rarely go there? Crawfish po-boy? Barbeque? Grilled veg at Lebanese place?

I showed Jeanne Dielman back in the 80s. Would have killed for feedback like this.
This is feedback we film programmers live for

There's more bright colors in this than the entire actual film.

Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

Uh wow just wow. This is an astonishing story and just gets more so as it goes. Seriously, get to the end. (I checked and Wikipedia supports it.)
On May 11, 1950, while working on the Rawlins National Bank in Wyoming, a construction crew unearthed a whiskey barrel that contained a human skeleton with its skull cap sawed off & an odd pair of shoes. Dr. Lillian Heath, now in her 80s, was asked if she knew anything about it...🧵
