All I could say when I found this was it's VB its VB as I couldn't pronounce the scientific name. Steve just looked at me like "what the heck are you talking about"? Pointed way up in the tree and wow what a beautiful mushroom. I have only found this species once. The gills 👇

Got the new lights for our birch on...lol what a project!! Tons of settings but I just put on solid. Maybe come Christmas I will get adventurous. I like simple things. Not sure how I will hang ornaments on it?

Made a loaf of brioche as a side for tonight's dinner. Super easy recipe and cost around .50/.75 per loaf. Added in some reishi powder supplement for extra added immunity. Flu season is starting early here. Going for our flu shot this Friday.

The incredible Ganoderma tsugae, also known as hemlock varnish shelf on a large hemlock stump. The spores have dropped and is what gives this polypore mushroom the appearance of a thick layer of dust on top.

It's here. I dislike winter ❄️ just listening to Bare Naked Ladies right now - Odds are. I love this Canadian band. Tragically Hip is next. Hopefully it's not a long winter!! We love many other bands too. We are a music couple. ❤️

My poor grand puppy got neutered yesterday. My son sent me this picture this morning in after surgery pyjamas. He doesn't look too happy.

This beautiful scene greeted me today while driving home from town. I live on the top of the hill. I love this time of year when the tamaracks are in their full orange glory and surrounded by bullrushes. Don't like the snow that will be coming soon though.

Wood blewits - Clitocybe nuda - formerly Lepista nuda are a beautiful and yummy wild mushroom. At a young age they are a striking lilac colour which varies with age. Bugs love them, and I've have never found them without worm holes. Let's hope the Jays take it home tonight!

Happy Halloween! Out of all the holidays #Halloween is our favourite and we always went all out. When we moved to our new place the neighbourhood kids came over and asked me "who will now decorate" and I felt bad. Being in the country we don't do it anymore. Our Son inherited the mummy thou.

Yes, they will probably pass the loss onto others. Like groceries aren't expensive enough! This regime needs to go and the sooner the better. They want autogenicide is my belief. Cruelty is the point.

A young cortinarius sp. All cortinarius have a cortina - a web like veil covering over the gills when young. I am still learning about corts and I don't find them often.

We live on six acres and have tons of insects including fireflies. All leaves get dumped into the forest and our small area of grass is utilized everyday until heavy snow. I have extensive gardens and come spring and wet leaves let me tell ya, not fun falling.

We don't usually rake the leaves and prefer to mulch them with the lawnmower and leave. This fall there are way too many so I raked a little today and man it sure is hard on your shoulders. Some horsetail down the side road and I thought it looked like an abstract painting. So pretty.

Busy, busy beaver. It amazes me how they chew through trees this big! It was one of many in the area.

Found this "new to me" a couple months ago and forgot about it. I have no idea what it is as I haven't looked into it, yet. It wasn't very big and dark blueish with an off white trim and robust. Tooth fungus family I think? Anyhoo it sure was pretty.

Received our first frost last night, leaves are falling fast. I thought this picture was cool with the impatiens still poking out and holding on for dear life. The big maple helps its buddy out. Go jays go, the game is not rigged as dump says. What a freaking idiot!! May the best team win ❤️

Cleaning the eaves today and a job I don't enjoy. Got down from the ladder and ran into these tall beauties. I think they are from the genus of Psathyrella which is over 400 different species. Go jays go!!

Last night Steve brought up Baba Vanga and her predictions. Some of her predictions came true esp. 9/11 . In 2025 she predicted that humanity will make contact with extraterrestrial life, possibly leading to a global crisis? 👇

A large cluster of Peziza varia. Peziza is a large genus of saprophytic cup fungi that grow on the ground, rotting wood or wood chips. It fruited in my mush yard where I put my spent mushroom fruiting bags.
