Northern Ireland's only province-wide railway expansion campaign.

#RebuildOurRailways

This railway link will revolutionise tourism tranportation alone in Northern Ireland and provide a direct, non-stop link between the North West and Belfast International Airport.

The officials in Stormont cannot allow this development's progress to stagnate.

Without ambition from the DFI, Northern Ireland will continue to stagnate.

These changes are the key to economic growth across the province, and improving the health and well-being of our citizens.

FundTheNINE hopes that you also share our vision.

#Translink want to electrify parts of our railway network this decade, and procure rolling stock to use on the electrified lines.

Why not use those ambitions to improve Belfast's congestion issues AND improve rail connectivity throughout Northern Ireland at the same time!

With BART using existing infrastructure (exception being dualling of the Dargan Bridge & tripling of the line to Lisburn), the rapid transit network would be completely scalable.

Over time, the commuter system could expand to places like Ballyclare, Antrim and even Larne.

BART (Belfast Area Rapid Transit) would mirror the success of #Dublin's DART system.

With just ONE more route mile than the DART system, BART would be capable of serving Belfast's congestion hotspots that feed commuters in and out of the City Centre every day.

So we need something that can be implemented relatively short-term, doesn't affect the existing road network (thus eliminating NIMBYism), requires little changes to existing infrastructure AND it needs to stand the test of time.

So what fits that bill?

The answer, is BART.

So what do we do to solve the problem?

Light rail? More bus lanes? Close City Centre motorway sliproads?

Whilst all of those solutions are realistic and necessary, they will take a lot longer to implement, and would require massive government backing.

Belfast City Council needs independent transport powers devolved from the DFI, as many cities in the UK & Ireland do.

We need 21st Century planning for a 21st Century city.

More funding goes to the capital city?

A city with more than 4x the population of any other city in Northern Ireland?

Never!
